Movie Review-Jurassic World: Dominion
In the world of the Jurassic movie franchise, there are two kinds of white people; entitled white people doing dumb shit and entitled white people doing dumber shit trying to fix the dumb shit done by the first set of white people.
Then, there's this other set of white people doing the kind of dumb shit only white people are capable of doing; making promises to a velociraptor and forming a PETA group to rescue dinosaurs.
And since this is the age of inclusivity and diversity, there's the tokenist not-black-but-decidedly-more-white-than-black black person who doesn't really want to get mixed up in the dumb shit white people get up to but gets sucked in anyway.
To round it up, there is, of course, the obligatory nerdy person of Asian persuasion who does dumb shit like white people which they later regret and get a chance at redemption.
So, it's four years after the dumb shit white people got up to in Jurassic World:Fallen Kingdom, and what do you know? White people, in Jurassic World:Dominion, are up to even dumber shit, again.
This time around, another white person with a God-complex and capitalist-greed has decided to gain control over world food production by creating genetically-modified giant locusts specifically coded to eat up all crops except those genetically grown by his company.
What ensues is predictable, franchise-formulaic but impressively rendered action sequences and even more impressively rendered CGIs.
Six movies into a franchise that began almost 30 Years ago, it's ironic that the white people with MENSA-level IQs in the franchise world haven't quite figured out yet that tinkering with dinosaur DNA is the dumbest idea in the history of dumb ideas.
Let's just hope that with this latest instalment in this dragged out franchise, their counterparts in the real world will realize that it's finally time to put this franchise DNA to rest in amber.7/10
